Hydraulic
Robotic Arm

A working model demonstrating Pascal's Law. Build a fully functional robotic arm using syringes, fluid mechanics, and structural engineering. Lift and move objects without electricity!

Hydraulic Arm Model

500g Payload

Lifting Capacity

Physics Behind It

Pascal's Law Principle

Fluid Pressure

"Pressure exerted anywhere in a confined incompressible fluid is transmitted equally in all directions."

Force Transmission

By pushing a smaller master syringe, we transfer fluid to a slave syringe, creating linear motion to move the arm joints.

Degrees of Freedom

The arm has 4 axes of motion: Base Rotation, Shoulder Lift, Elbow Flex, and Gripper Actuation.

Pascal Law

Step-by-Step Fabrication

1

Structure Cutting

Cut cardboard/wood pieces for the Base, Boom, and Stick using templates.

2

Joint Assembly

Connect parts using nuts, bolts, or toothpicks to create movable hinges.

3

Hydraulic Circuit

Fill syringes with colored water (to identify axes) and connect via tubes.

4

Testing

Check for leaks and test lifting capacity. Secure tubes with zip ties.

Material Bill of Quantities (BOQ)

8x Syringes

10ml or 20ml medical syringes

2m IV Tube

Flexible plastic tubing
